With the rising cost of food, everyone is looking for ways to save on their grocery bills without sacrificing nutrition. Here are ten tips on how to save money on your grocery bills. The truth is vegan grocery shopping is actually a
Avoid buying processed

Plan meals before shopping

Always write a list of the things you need.
This needs to become a habit before you go grocery shopping. How many times have you found yourself buying things you don't really need or things you already have on your fridge but are not sure, and end up buying the same thing again? To me, It has happened many times. But when I start writing everything I need for the week, I notice that the amount of money I spend on groceries went down.
So just plan ahead everything you might need for the week. If you have trouble doing this, grab a piece of paper and start planning what do you want to eat for the whole week. Start planning what you are getting for breakfast, lunch, dinner and what snacks do you want. This way when you go to the supermarket you will only get what you need and avoid any distractions.
Try to find the marked down fruits and veggies.
This doesn't mean you are buying the food that is going bad. What supermarkets do, is that they cannot hold on the fruits or veggies for a certain amount of time, so to get rid of them they just lower their price hoping people will buy them and put the next set of veggies and fruits for sale. Another advantage of this is that you are getting the fruits and veggies that are ripe, so no more waiting for you.
Stay away from the meats and poultry. Even Vegan Meats. This hikes up your grocery bills
You will notice at the checkout line that your grocery bill shoots up soon as you add meats/poultry/fish to it. You can save a few extra dollars in your pocket next time you go to the market. Also when people tell me they cannot afford to be vegan, 8 out of 10 will tell me also that the vegan meats eat their budget.
In my opinion everyone can afford to be vegan. It is just a matter of proper budget planning when going to the market and this tips have saved me a few extra dollars every month. I hope it does the same to you.
